I have a good friend who would like to be a case study for me who has just been diagnosed with hyperthyroidism.  She has seen GP and Consultant and has been offered medication which she does not wish to take at the moment.  She has seen an osteopath and is booked in to see a Naturopath today.  Please advise what protocol i should be using for her, i was thinking back of neck and possibly trigeminal points to start with.  Many thanks Lorraine

Hypothyroidism is one of the most common conditions in the modern society. typically, it is related to stress response (long term stress leads to thyroid shutdown), iodine deficiency, but also other deficiencies, such as Selenium, Vit D3, Vit A, essential aminoacids (tyrosine). often at peri-menopausal women due to progesterone deficiency or oestrogen overdominance syndrome. all these factors should be taken into a consideration, diagnosed with the clinician and appropriate strategy should be chosen.
if indeed prolonged stress is the cause, your patient will benefit from InterX therapy, because it has calming parasympathetic effect that was shown in some few studies and that we, therapists see at the end of each session, when our patient become feeling relaxed and sleepy.
Stimulation on the neck will also benefit as the principal innervation of the thyroid gland is derived from the superior, middle, and inferior cervical sympathetic ganglia of the autonomic nervous system and parasympathetic fibers from the vagus nerves. the technique '3;1' will be also useful for non-invasive stimulation of the vagus nerve.
please share with us your results.

Thank you Zulia, patient is 61 years and was successfully treated for bowel cancer with surgery and no chemo/radiotherapy almost 1 year ago, there has been stress from work also.  I will let you know how we get on.

Zulia -I would be interested to know are you recommending the same InterX treatment for hyper and hypo -I see Lorraine was asking about Hyperthyroidism? As for hyperthyroid I would avoid any supplements that stimulate thyroid action/production.

Oh! thank you for spotting the mistake! it must be travelling on the other side of the world confused me :)

Yes, our InterX strategy is the same, however, as rightly pointed, no thyroid stimulating supplements should be advised. It should be diagnosed and treated by a specialist.
