I have a new patient diagnosed with ALS about 6 months ago. He wants to try inter-x therapy. Is there any risk of trying this intervention on him and does anyone have any experience treating an ALS patient. I figured I would do the spinal and facial protocols.
Wanted to provide this forum with an update on my ALS patient and electrical stimulation use. My patient is a 47 y/o MWM who was officially diagnosed with ALS in JUL2017 but was having symptoms as early as late 2016. Started to seek medical diagnosis in FEB2017. He and I started working with electrical stimulation in mid JAN 2017. At that time he was complaining of fatigue, having to nap during the day, decreasing use of his LLE as well as pain in the same extremity. Was having mild anxiety, depression and intrusive thoughts. Today we have completed our 10th session and he definitely feels the combination of alpha-stim and inter-x has been helping. I am not professing this to be something that his going to cure him nor is it the only treatment he is receiving. But he definitely notices a change in energy level, decreased spasms and pain immediately after our sessions. Some of these results last longer than others. He is currently at a point in which he no longer naps, stopped taking Provigil and is now in a physical therapy program. We started with a spinal protocol and alpha-stim and we adjust the treatments we do according to his needs. I.e. when he was having disturbing spasms in his UEs I did a treatment to his cervical area and he reported this dramatically decreased the number of spasms he was having. If he has no specific areas he wants addressed I do the spinal or face protocol. I typically treat on chronic, 60 pps with percentage depending on what he tolerates that day.

Likewise, I never can make any claims with ALS, however, the InterX is a good tool to support patients with this diagnosis. I have had few cases in my practice, always beneficial, especially at early stages. one of the patients had aphasia, then speech improved immediate following the session, however, results are not long lived, so I normally recommend the patients to buy the personal device to prolong the effect. in another case of progressive PMA, with the fast deterioration, we managed to slow down the progression of disease. we used simultaneous stimulation with many devices of the spine, head, 6 trigeminal points, scalp, and principals of reciprocals alternating limbs. also, release "3:1". also can use Acupuncture points, especially PC6 and HT7 to help with anxiety, we use these points with the InterX, only 1 minute on each.
please keep us updating on the treatment progress. thank you for your amazing work!
Brief update. After about 9 months of treatment my patient has moved away to be closer to his family. His ALS has continued to progress although at a slow pace. He very much believes the use of inter-x was of assistance to him. I would map his spine on a weekly basis and send home the readings with the areas recommended for tx at home by his wife . Though the disease has continued to progress he has been able to refrain from napping and still does not require the use of Provigil anymore. Still continues to feel energized after treatments. I wish him the best as I have learned much from him and his family on dealing with this horrible disease.
